Supplements

The right supplements can dramatically improve egg quality by supporting energy production in the mitochondria of developing eggs. ~Rebecca Fett

There is nothing more important than eating a balanced diet. Food should be your primary source of nutrients and you can achieve most of what you need from eating a varied and healthy diet.

There are some circumstances where supplements may be helpful – for example in improving egg quality – and your body may need an extra boost in order to optimise your chances of conception.

I would also recommend that you consult a qualified nutritionist before engaging a supplementation routine to understand the potential impacts (positive and negative) that this may have on your body and specifically your fertility.

If you are looking to improve egg quality (this is particularly important as you get older) then the following supplements will be helpful:

  • A good quality prenatal vitamin, including at least 800 mcg folate (not folic acid)
  • Ubiquinol (precursor to CoQ10)
  • Antioxidants such as N-acetyl-cysteine.

If you are over 35 or are concerned about your egg quality, then I highly recommend buying Rebecca Fett’s book.  Details are provided in the book section of the site for you.
